ChoirShow 2!

ChoirShow 2!
The live YouTube concert with an impressive lineup!

Sunday 1st November marks the release of CHOIRSHOW 2 – a brilliant live broadcast of virtual choir videos recorded by 14 different choirs INCLUDING CHOIRJAM from across the UK, in support of Keynsham charity ‘The Music Man Project’.

This month 250 singers from various choirs have been busy rehearsing and recording their individual performances, prior to them being carefully edited together to create a wonderful evening concert.  This autumn look forward to watching performances from children’s choirs, community choirs, show choirs and a chamber choir, all brought together for CHOIRSHOW 2.

On the night, there will be special LIVE Green Room of the choir directors, a live interval performance and the audience will be able to share comments, best wishes and celebrate using the YouTube chat function  – and even join in with some short bits of community singing!

CHOIRSHOW 2 is organised by Matt Finch, musical director for Bath Light Operatic Group and MD for BLOG at the Bath Theatre Royal, and is a direct result of his 9 choirs all being unable to perform for the past eight months.

Matt says, “Most of my choirs have been rehearsing on zoom since lockdown began, but with no real purpose or performance to work toward. Some of the choirs began to spontaneously make virtual videos and we started sharing them on Facebook, mainly for family and friends. The feedback was brilliant, with people really enjoying them, but I soon realised there was just not enough people seeing them. The videos were great and can take hours and hours to record, edit and produce and so deserved a much bigger audience! I wanted a way of celebrating the choirs’ achievements and an online concert, in collaboration with other UK choirs seemed to be the perfect vehicle and the best way forward”.

CHOIRSHOW 2 is in fact a sequel. The first CHOIRSHOW was held in July and had 14 different choirs from the south of England coming together to share their performances and watch online. The show had over 1.2K views, sold 350 tickets and raised over £1,000 for charity. After such a roaring success, Matt decided he had to do another one.

The event is ticketed, and the show will be broadcast live on YouTube at 7.30pm on Sunday 1st November 2020. Tickets are £8.50 per household and can be purchased via Eventbrite.

CHOIRSHOW has set up a special code for each choir involved. This code gives audience members £1.00 off their ticket and donates 25% of the rest of their ticket to the choir of their choice. To support CHOIRJAM use the special code CJC. At the end of the show there will also be a big virtual bucket  shake in aid of The Music Man Project in Keynsham.

“The Music Man is a music club for adults with learning disabilities and is a place where students can go to share their musical tastes and enjoy making music with friends, as well as learning about musical performance, improvisation, and composition,” explains Matt. “Through the coronavirus crisis, the charity has seen a significant drop in income, is facing many new challenges and has recently set up an appeal page on Just Giving https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/choirshow2 . All fundraising is hugely appreciated, and this is a chance for us to make a real difference to many local musicians”.

For audience members CHOIRSHOW 2 is a great opportunity to enjoy an actual concert, connect with and hear many different styles of choirs from around the world, and support choirs by giving them much needed choral singing time.

The Rematch! Sat 17 March 2018

We’re teaming up once again with The Magnificent AK47 men’s choir after they made the long, arduous journey over from eastern parts last year.  Lowering the tone with their deep, Georgian-inspired harmonies and serious silliness, those Magnificent Men of Ashton Keynes and their multi-hatted singing machine will be taking to the stage to prove they can truly live up to the claim of perhaps being the best all bloke singing troupe ever to escape from the depths of North, North Wiltshire.

This time we’re on neutral territory in St Sampson’s handsome church in Cricklade.

There will be a bar, lots of blokes with hats, us and the amazing CJ band! What’s not to like?

Tickets available here.
